W Reg Micra - No Oomph - Mu2
I had a 1L 16valve L reg Micra for years and it was great. I recently acquired a W reg Micra, same spec and am finding it just doesn't like accelerating and is romping through the petrol. It's not nearly as nippy as my old one. I had it serviced and had the spark plugs changed etc but no joy. Any ideas?

Sorry to repost but I was wondering if anyone would have any ideas as to why my W reg micra is using a lot of fuel and not accelerating well?

You say you've had it serviced.

Check whoever did it actually changed the air filter, and not just billed you for one.

Another thing to check is that the brakes aren't binding. Go for a drive, pull over and check none of the wheels are excessively hot. Watch you don't end up burning your pinkies by checking though.

Could be lots of things. Binding brakes as already mentioned, or some sort of engine management fault, partially blocked cat. Throttle body (AFM) could be at fault.
I suggest electronic diagnostics at a Nissan main agent.

Dear Dynamic Dave and Aprilia. I'm pretty sure it ain't the air flow meter as I had that go wrong on my last micra (in fact Aprilia you diagnosed it!) and it hasn't got the same symptoms - so I think I'm just going to take it for some tests as you recommend.
I think the car may have been sitting about for a while - it had only done 4000 miles in the last year. DOn't know if that makes a difference. Cheers for your help.
