Anyone know where I can get my MY04
Impreza WRX reupholstered in leather. I
hear some fuss about can't do it 'cos
of the side airbags fitted in seats
which sounds like pink fluffy dice to me !
I'm Manchester based and any help would
be appreciated.

You can say that again. $540=£289 and even if you were to add VAT and import duty you would still come in well under what I see leather conversions being advertised for. Can't hurt to e-mail the guy and see what shipping to the UK would be.

When we bought our Trajet, the dealer organised it to be trimmed with leather. The seats were removed, shipped out to Scotland or somewhere, trimemd and sent back to be re-connected. There are airbags in the seats so it can;t be that hard..

The difference between re-trimming a seat with a airbag and without is that there are perforations around the airbag area in the seat cover.
This ensures that when the airbag is fired, it blows away part of the seat cover.

I take the point but the issue is - are Subaru right to suggest no one else but them can safely upholster their seats in leather ?

They are covering their botty holes.
They are saying, "If your airbag goes off, comes out of the wrong part of the seat and blows your arm off at the armpit - then tough my son because we warned you"
Its not an unreasonable position. They cant condone, or suggest or do anything that exposes them to legal comebacks.
