Vectra & Signum - Vincentus
Is Signum only a long-wheel-based version of Vectra ? Same interior, only hatch + better equipment. I guess even the suspenion is the same. What about ride quality ?

Diesel is out of the question, 2.2 petrol is underpowered, 2.0T unrefined & noisy, so... 3.2 V6... hmm, thirsty...

Yep.

Excellent, as well as excellent handling.
2.2 petrol is underpowered....

What? with 155 horses on tap. Don't think so. My Vectra with the 2.2 in it, coupled to an auto gearbox is no slouch.

Also the new 1.9 diesel is the bees knees (FIAT/Alfa/GM unit). Check out HJ's review of the Vectra with the 1.9 engine in it - www.honestjohn.co.uk/road_tests/index.htm?id=151

It's a heavy car, you know... Signum, I mean.

Gross vehicle weight (with a 2.2 auto engine):

Vectra Design or Elite = 1975 KG.
Signum Design or Elite = 2085 KG.

The Signum Design/Elite model weighs approx 1¼ passengers heavier (17 stone).

It won't make an awful lot of difference.

I wasn't aware that the Signum had *different* equipment to the Vectra - presumably the spec between models will differ but the dashboards are essentially the same aren't they?

Also, don't you lose the middle rear seat in a Signum?

The dashboard itself is the same. But comparing a Signum Design with a Vectra Design, the Signum will have a few extra toys thrown in. Same applies to other models if you compare like for like.

Only if you specify the optional extra "Travel Assistant". Which is removable anyway, should you need the middle seat.

In a strange way find myself wanting one - quick take me to a darkened room. (-;

Nah, it's a nice little car, must be 2nd hand though...

That's what I mean -I am drawn to it after browsing Vauxhall's Site
Vectra & Signum - his nibs
In my experience the 2.0T is certainly not noisy and unrefined. The number of times I have got in a car with this engine and turned the key to find the engine is already running still astounds me. It is, in my opinion, very smooth and punches well above it's weight.
Vectra & Signum - Marc
Quite right His Nibs, I have the 2.0T in my Vectra SRi. It's very smooth with loads of power delivery on tap. Excellent for blasting up the slip road onto motorways and overtaking. In sixth it cruises at very high speed, at low revs and in near silence - ideal if you do all your commute on the motorway like I do.

Sorry to all Mondeo II fans but it's a revelation compared to the Ford 1.8 Duratec HE lump in these respects.

If I were going for the Signum it would be the 2.0T in met black in Elite spec. Nice

My local Vauxhall dealer has a very nice ex demo 2000 miles 04 Signum in Star Silver with full body kit sat on their forecourt for £15K for about 2 months now. I think it looks stunning and often wonder if you made them a cash offer how much more you could get off the screen price.

Don't they do a 3.0 v6 Diesel? Shared with Saab - meant to be smooth, powerful engine.

If you are buying 2nd hand - wouldn't an omega be a better bet? Rear drive - looks better imo - although engine choice is limited (no decent diesel) - best engine probably 3.0/3.2.
