Renault megane 1996 r reg keeps cutting out for no reason,happens quite alot had it in garage could not find any faults but it is still doing it sometimes anybody any ideas or had similar problems

It might help if you mention when it cuts out. Does it do it when cold/hot? Does it do it on tickover or accelerating? Etc Etc.

Dynamic Dave it`s usally when it is cold it cuts out sometimes it will startup straight away others have to let it sit for 2/3 mins, also when it is hot it sometimes revs up on its own when you are sitting on idle, you switch it of start it up again and it`s alright, this happens now and again,

Coolant temp sensor

or

Flywheel sensor (This one try removing first, Cleaning and replacing)

Just the right age for an idle control valve. Have never been able to clean one properly myself but it is often said that they can be cleaned with carb cleaner. Usually about £80 ( R reg 1.8 Laguna)
