I appreciate that if you travel in the cotswolds this may not be that uncommon, but today I drove through the centre of Cheltenham for the first time.

That is all.

Did you get excited?
New motoring experience - No Do$h
Not sure. What's that emotion where you just think "Same manure, different location"? Oh yes, boredom.

Don't really know why I mentioned it. Just half expected a horde of sycophantic virtual pats on the back and a few offers of a beer I guess. Oh, and I was kind of hoping that any replies would be liberally scattered with exclamation marks to show enthusiasm and wonder at my achievement

There is, but that one isn't in it. Would kind of stifle the conversation in "technical" if the oily-fingered ones had this removed from their repetoire. How else would you describe changing an alternator on a '97 Astra?

"How else would you describe changing an alternator on a '97 Astra?"

That argues for the removal of all swear filtering, IMHO...

Hah! That one's not in it, then? Moderator's privileges strike again - just another symptom of that communist conspiracy ...

I'm sure someone will work it out eventually......

Surely you are not suggesting that NoDosh attended Cheltenham Ladies' College? ;-)
New motoring experience - No Do$h
Shouldn't that be "attended to the ladies of Cheltenham college"?

I think you are probably best-placed to answer ... ;-)

Presumably en route from sunny Telford to Poole. Who did not look at Teletext / listen to radio then. Should have gone off at Jct6 amd thro Evesham/Stow et. et. for a change and also not that much traffic today...

Were you on a mission to find somewhere worse than Telford?

Or, are you on a mission to see how many replies you can get to a silly posting?

I knew about it on the M54 but kind of hoped it would be clear by the time I got down there. Ah well.

Whats wrong with Cheltenham?
A place of regency tranquility, attunement to the finer things in life, stop a while, visit a few restuaraunts, take the air,
reflect on the song " all the nice girls live in Cheltenham " on the other hand if you have no taste for the finer things, Welcome to Sunny Glauster.
New motoring experience - spikeyhead {p}
I'll remember my last visit to a Cheltenham "restaurant" for the rest of my life.

We were in a curry house and all but I took them up on the 10p extra for extra hot offer.

As the food arrived we tried to order more lager but it had just gone midnight and they wouldn't serve any more drinks.

The sight of my mates with their heads in the fishtank trying to cool their mouths down after the extra hot remains clear in my mind, even though it happenned a few years back.

New motoring experience - Oz
Adelaide has a suburb named Cheltenham, noted (only) for its race track. Obviously Cheltenham in England was therefore named after it.
The way I heard it the English place is pronounced 'Cheltnum', obviously to distance itself from its antipodean cousin.
