Does anyone know of a web based data-base or bases of car performance figures including cars that are no longer current, going back as far as you like? No specific car in mind just interested.

www.carfolio.com
Sometimes a bit misleading and confusing, but generally a good site.

How accurate is the info on carfolio. A renault scenic 1.6 8V is given on there as 75bhp but 90 in parkers and I wonder which is correct. I think I have seen 90bhp quoted elsewhere although judging by the lack of performance it feels more like 75 is correct.

No way would it be 75 bhp for a modern 1.6 engine, even in 8v form. Even 90 bhp isn't exactly great. The 1.4 16v in the new range develops 98 bhp, according to the official Renault figures.
|
75BHP was correct for the 1.6 8v scenics up to 1999/2000 facelift. 90BHP is correct for the 1.6 16v engine fitted thereafter.
There were a very few 1.6 16vs fitted to pre facelift models in late 99.

Scenic 1.6 8v' were 90hp, same engine as in the 1.6 8v Clio's Megane's and Laguna's. This engine is great in the (lighter) Clio being very gutsy a low revs with enough top end. the 16v (which is only more powerfull over 4500 rpm) is 110hp.
It was the 1.4 8v as fitted to Clio's and Megane's that produced 75hp, the only 1.4 in the Mk1 Scenic was the 16v 98hp in the facelift model.

I concede, from what you say it looks as though a 75hp engine must have been fitted to early Scenics (perhaps yours was an import?) Otherwise I stand by my previous post:
UK spec Scenic's, Clio, etc 1.6 8v.'s 90hp, 1.6 16v 110hp, UK spec 1.6 16v's were certianly not quoted as 90hp.

The 1.6 litre VW Polo of the mid-late 90's only produced 75 bhp.
Not a modern engine, admittedly.

In a pretty low state of tune too, I would think. I had a ZX in 1994, with the PSA 1.4 8v engine, and that developed 75 bhp.

Is that all? My mk1 Astra 1.3 (1982) had that many. And IIRC, the mk3 1.6 Escort of the same era also had similar specs.
