www.upsolute.com Austrian company who have a good reputation, I've had a car chipped by them and I'm very pleased with it.
And me....

Just checked the upsolute link, seems a good company, and theres an agent in South Wales near me! What did you pay for the fitted chip?
Cheers

I think it's around the £300 mark. Prices are on the website somewhere.
Of course, make sure you tell your insurance company....

have a look on www.uk-mkivs.net in the performance forum for advice, there are many options and most have been tried by at least one of the members there.

It cost £305, took about 3 hours in total.
They take out the old chip and replace it with a new chip, sounds simple but just getting to the ECU was difficult.
You can buy tuning boxes which plug in to the ECU loom, these modify the signals sent to the injectors and turbo, however I preferred the Upsolute way (it's neater and it doesn't advertise the fact the cars been modified).
Upsolute keep the old chip and the old map just in case, so you can go back to the old chip if you had to.
If there's a downside I can't find it - fuel consumption did suffer initially as I couldn't resist using the performance.
However, back in normal mode consumption is no higher, in fact I'm getting slightly more than I used to but the car has <7k so it's still running in.
Throttle response is much better, used to be a slight lag which has gone completely and the power band has been extended by 300-400 rpm.
