Hi,
Can someone please confirm which manufacturer did the 105bhp turbo-diesel engine as fitted to 1997-ish vintage Rover 200/400 models?
Is it any good? Things to watch for?
Cheers.

Made by Land Rover and fitted into the Freelander and 620,420 & 220. Rover bought the engine recently, the idea is to common rail the engine.
Good strong motor but it is outclassed today by superior Ford and Peugeot PSA Diesel engines.

According to austin-rover.co.uk/ they were Rover\'s own L series.

It may well be Rover's engine now - but in the past they were shipped in from Land Rover to the Rover production line..
I know, I've been there..
