Thanks for that.

I've seen on one site where the yanks use a hot glue gun to stick a pad to the centre of a large shallow dent and then pull it out with a type of puller. But surely that would pull the paint off with the strength of the glue when removing the pad.

Ah,

That'll probably be the DingKing.

This must already have have been thought of, so how far can you get by placing a cover over the dent and then pumping the air out to encourage the dent to pop back out. OK, so not all dents will be suitable.

The cover (size) needs to suit the dent size and ideally has an inspection window to see what is happening. Evacuated air sucks at nearly 15 pounds per square inch.

Yes the 'Dent king' is one, but I've seen another with a movie but I can't remember where I've seen it.
But as I said earlier, I would have thought that method would pull the paint off or weaken it. Would they use the standard hot glue sticks you buy from such as B&Q or weaker ones?

I've seen those Those "melt and pull" things in Halfords, but not used one. I tried a hot glue gun, but it didn't stick enough. You really have to get all signs of wax/polish off before trying. This was before I drilled a hole and pulled the ding out with a self-tapper.

Paint sticks really well (original paint anyway) - see how much effort it takes when rubbing it down to bare metal.
