2000 Cit Xsara Hdi 90 won't start! - dodo
My June 2000 Xsara Hdi 90 will not start. One day in ownership and while the engine turns it will not fire. Wee light on key not lighting up so maybe an immobiliser fault? Not a good start! Any ideas?

So the remote plip won't work? Might be a case of a flat remote battery?

No, the remote works but a wee key symbol on the instrument panel does not come on when the car is switched on. This light goes out when the transponder in the key is read.

And you only have one key?

Did you buy it privately?

Afraid so. Owner had lost the other one. However the car was bought locally new and the supplying dealing has the relevant records. They were closing yestaerday when I called them but I'm waiting on the AA (if they are still operating post buy out) to bring the car up to them. I'm quite anooyed as I was relying on the car.

I think it's time to bite the bullet and get it into a workshop with the correct diagnostic kit.....

And so off on the back of a lorry to dealers for a diagnostic check. Faulty fuel lifter pump (common problem they say). £256 later all is well and the car as a new lease of life it now goes like stink. Bit miffed to pay this out after 24 hours ownership though!
