Yes, it's very good! It must have cost them an absolute fortune to make, and it runs for quite a long time as TV adverts go, so will be very costly in Air-time.

Brilliant, Brilliant, Brilliant !!!

I'm having trouble getting that tune out my head already!
Nice to see a manufacturer admit that diesels are not universally liked, though...

Honda's ad agency does seem to be on a roll - I bet the other manufacturers' publicity depts are gnashing their teeth!

Nice ad, but it does rather imply that every other diesel is a primitive piece of junk. I believe what the roadtesters say about the Honda diesel being very refined, but is it really as huge a leap forward as the ad implies?

Before I opened this thread I would have bet good money that it was about how absolutely horrible the ad is, second maybe only to those two dancing penguins thingys advertising Switch/maestro.

I see now that I would have lost my money. Guess I am the only one who hates it.

"..but it does rather imply that every other diesel is a primitive piece of junk."

Intentional, I imagine. A skilful piece of work, promoting their own engine on the back of everyone else's shortcomings!

Go to the cinema, and you'll see an even longer version.

Despite this, my wife turned to me and said "What on earth was all that about?"
New Honda Advert - J Bonington Jagworth
My six-year old son loves it, and can even tell you the fate of all the smoky diesels! Mind you, I've yet to see one that isn't... :-)

I think you might be able to get your six-year old a freeby bag at www.honda.co.uk . It's a little vague though, and the price might end up being fending off salesmen for the next eighty years.
Worth seeing the site anyway.

Apart from the awful Jazz adverts of course.
Yes, I agree that cars shouldn't use bus lanes to try to get one over on each other. Doesn't reaklly have anything to do with the Jazz though, does it?

These are some of the reviews:

I was next to one a few days ago - only realised it was a diesel when I saw the badge on the boot. Had I not found my Type S first I'd have probably bought one.

Power to the bunny!

Nice to see Honda not sticking to some stuffy advert showing a car being driven round some obscure country road, deserted and bowling-green smooth!

After this and the bits of car bumping into each other in the previous advert, how will Honda improve next time!
New Honda Advert - stevegolf
yes it is a very good typical Honda advert,Honda seem to develop some excellent ideas and innovations.
Even in car designs and stlyes are all thought out.
My 04 coic sport has for example excellent suspension if you follow a Civic you will see how it "rides" compared to other suspensions.

Its amazing how some of the Honda ads have got home. Well partly! Guy at ATS was telling me last month, that Honda invented the diesel......And that was only from the ads for the new 2.2 engine.

Very Beatles.

The production values and the media time taken make this very expensive but why worry when buyers will pay for it, to the tune of several hundred pounds costed into the price of each car?
New Honda Advert - Hull4000
I've driven this car - the Accord 2.2i cTDi. It is probably the best car I have ever driven . They need to advertise the fact that this diesel is like no other.

I decided to buy an Audi A4 1.9TDi rather than the Accord iCTDi because of the multitronic transmission - the Accord does not yet have automatic transmission. The VW/Audi diesel engine does not match the Accord, which is quieter, smoother, more responsive, faster and more economical.
New Honda Advert - nortones2
i'm waiting till they put the 2.2 (uprated) into the new Civic. Or a derivative (only a bit lighter/smaller) into a Jazz:)

Hull4000,
you must really like multitronic transmission!

I upgraded from an Passat 130 TDI to the Accord recently and am very happy with it.

I'd agree with every bit of your engine comparison apart from the economy, also power delivery is a prolonged surge rather than the VW's sudden rush.
Although I've only done 2k I'm getting high 30's which is a little less than the VW and I'm not pushing it (yet). Hopefully this will improve with mileage.

Honda is a little more expensive than some of its mainstream rivals but well worth the extra IMHO, very impressed with the build quality.

I think it's a great advert, but suspect it will get pulled soon for misrepresenting on arguements by other manufacturers.

Sure, the Honda diesel is refined. But so are the ones in practically every new car. I thinking especially of the one in the Peugoet of a couple of years ago, which I test drove. It was like a petrol.

Also, I'm pretty certain that no matter how hard you might try, you can't get a diesel to backfire. Even the one in my Xsara doesn't pump out clouds of black smoke, but I'll admit that it's not the quietest engine in the world.

Once again, another cool advert - now I just have to get the tune out my head!
New Honda Advert - David Horn
Damn you! That's 6 times in a row I've watched that clip. Methinks I'll be visiting the Honda dealer tomorrow to take a test drive. My Dad's looking at getting a new diesel, may as well test it as I'll be driving it a lot. :P
