Never regarded E-bay s a miracle device..:-)

Yet another old chestnut - been around for decades...:-)

As someone has already pointed out in the forums, if all these devices did as promised everyone would not only want one, but have one.

...but this one IS different - look - they provide a standard philips screwdriver that you LEAVE under the bonnet!

This obviously enables the gremlins in the engine compartment to keep it continuously tuned for the current speed of the engine!

Or am I just being silly??

Probably is case you need to remove sharpish!

fail to see what it does/apart from restricting air flow?

Sorry, but I think you'll find it's actually a pozidrive screwdriver, not a philips ;o)

Ah, your eyesight is better than mine. And there I was thinking that a Pozidrive under the bonnet was so passe. :o)

Hmmff! What do you guys know! That's not a pozidriv screwdriver, it's part of the positive ionic energy polarisation system!
What about all of the positive endorsements? It must be a miracle!
Of course this is a completely revolutionary product, and has never been produced in any similar form before.

Elsewhere recently, someone was selling a "power chip" to increase horsepower etc etc. It even showed a picture of it inside the box. One 16 pin in-line resistor array with two wires attached across one of the resistors. Possibly trying to fool the air or water temperature sensor into making the mixture richer? Very similar glowing testimonials were in evidence.

You just have to laugh sometimes!

Why not go the whole hog. 35bhp per Turbonator. So if you buy 100... and attach them to a strimmer, you can power a large yacht.

What a top idea. I wonder why the manufacturers don't fit these as standard.
Why are companies allowed to sell this carp?

In case you missed another chance to get up to 20BHP more by introducing a resistor. Sorry no oil burners.

See Ebay

At least they say it is a resistor and you could be paying £20 elsewhere.

On a more serious note I wonder how these Snake Oil merchants would fare if the Trading Standards officers got involved.

After all it is simply deception.

I'm going to attach one to my wifes hairdryer. The resistor can be obtained for about 10p from Maplin!

This Turbonator looks like it might induce a degree of vortex in the intake air but whether that lasts as far as the carburettor or injection point(s) on petrol engines I wonder! Also it's a minor obstruction to engine breathing - enough to cancel out any benefits??? On non-turbo petrol engines I thought the best intake system was one that allows free breathing, hence polished intlet ports, and sports air cleaners etc.

Don't think I'll buy one. Even less use on a diesel with turbo and intercooler, I imagine!

cheers, SS

Totally agree with what you said Sofa Spud..A point also made in another thread.I think NC said it..vortex should take place in the combustion chamber ie complete fuel air mix..I maintain a before vortex will inhibite air flow.Possibly causing more fuel to be consumed?

Indeed, I think this device is not of great benefit.

The multi-million pound investment made by universities and motor companies in test equipment, in testing, in employing people with planet sized brains, in developing computational fluid dynamics, computerised combustion models, not to mention the huge efforts taken to optimise engine control strategies in software is clearly all wasted.

They should stick some pellets in the tank, a windmill device in the intake, and a resistor in series!

I know that manufacturers don't always get things perfectly right - but that doesn't mean they are incompetent - far from it!
