Proposed new-style Grand Prix - Oz
Heard an interview today about a suggested new-style GP, to relieve the tedium of the current MS/Ferrari-dominated version. Sponsored by Saudi(?) finance, all the cars will be identical, just the drivers will be different. This seems to me to beg an endless list of questions. Any opinions?

Be a pity to tinker too much, part of the attraction of F1 is the technology involved. It is as much a battle of manufacturers as drivers, and to over react because of the temporary dominance of one team seems a bit knee jerk.

A couple of simple changes such as restrictions on the use of wings and the banning of carbon fibre brake discs would make overtaking much easier and return some of the cut and thrust into the sport. GP is often compared unfavourably to motorcycle racing, but that went through a boring faze when Mick Doohan on a Honda was cruising into a half lap lead from the start and staying there till the finish.

All forms of racing go through a period when the dominance of one competitor means the only race is for who comes second.
