a4 dash light problem

a4 dash light problem - teachm7
I have a problem that audi can not help me with. Whilst driving, without my lights on, the lights around the speedo and rev counter fade up and down every now and then. does anyone remember this?

Do you have adjustable dash lighting? I think you do, via the little rotary knob on the clocks.

I would suspect something is going on with this.
