What is a Phat filter, what does it do and why did it limit my friends Pug 307 to 2000 revs ?
DFTD
P.S. replaced under warranty so no worries, just curious....

I take it you mean FAP filter & we are talking about a 307 HDI
|
FAP stands for Particulate emission filter
This is fitted to the HDI engines exhaust behind the CAT.
This system helps reduce the exhaust emmisions.
There are sensors that tell the engines ECU whats going on with the system & also there is a additive that sometimes has to be topped up around the 72K mile service.

That makes more sense... Pug stealer had the car for three days and told him the Phat filter had been changed as some fluid had leaked over an electrical sensor.
Why would of this limited the revs to 2000 / 2500, would it of effectivly blocked / choked the exhuast or does it put the car in a limp home mode ?
DFTD.

I've heard of these particulate filters failing on 607 HDi's - if it were mine I'd cut it out and take the bulb out of the MIL Lamp!

The thing is, If theres a problem with the FAP system, the car will then default into Limp home mode & you end up getting overtaken by snails!
