Omega display: check headlights - smokie
All of a sudden my '98 MV6 computer display is intermittently suggesting I should check headlights and tail lights (can't recall the exact wording). It is intermittent and seems to go on as I turn the lights off, sometimes.

Of course, all the lights are working fine.

Any clues for where I might look? I'm hoping it's just a bad connection somewhere.

Almost certainly one of the lights is *not* working fine. Have you checked them all ? including all brake lights and the front side lights ?

Mine used to behave exactly as you said yours is, but always as a result of a blown/loose bulb.

Yes, this started to happen on mine a few months ago, went on for weeks and was driving me mad. Finally nailed it down to a loose bulb in one of the rear side light clusters (2 bulbs - so not always obvious if only one is playing up).

Well a quick glance last night indicated they were working OK, but I hadn't realised there were two bulbs.

Having just checked, all appear to be operating normally but when I moved the spare wheel (which has been in and out a bit recently!) to access the cluster, the plug pretty much fell off the back of the cluster.

So I guess that was probably the cause. Thanks guys.

PS I noticed that the indicator bulb is a yellow coated bulb and the lens is white. I suppose this is common and a bulb will be easy to obtain when the time comes.

Yes, these yellow bulbs are very common. The coating tends to come off though and they can start to look a bit white (MoT fail, BTW).
