Picking up my new Leon from Motorpoint this afternoon.
Do you get to give the car an inspection before you hand over the bank draft?
Been reading too many horror stories on the net of arriving to collect and it being newly scratched / bits missing that were there when you agreed to buy / 200 extra miles on clock etc etc...

Yes - take your fine tooth comb with you! Be prepared to leave it with them to sort out, rather than accepting anything you are not happy with.

I bought my car from Motorpoint Derby and it was a different experience to a main dealer. This was a few years ago and things may have changed but generally..
I was given a time for collection. There was a small waiting room and you were called into an office in turn as there is a huge turn over and must be dozens or more in the day for all I know.
You go into the office where the documentation is all laid out with keys and manuals etc. No time is wasted and you pay and are given the above. Asked what to do about problems and he said its a new car take it to the main dealer which was fair enough.
A lady was then detailed to take me to the car where it was ready and waiting. A "there you are" from the lady and she departed. It was all as quick as that..
Having said that I had no problems, the car was well valeted and prepared.
One point to remember is that from my experience and that of friends there will be virtually no fuel left in the tank. I think they must drain them. However if its Derby there is a filling station outside their main entrance.
Later...I called in to the main dealer for an accessory shortly afterwards. The lad in there asked me if I was down as the owner or similar on Vauxhalls database. Told him no and he did it there and then as I think I had the logbook with me. Could be different for Seat of course. A year or two later I rang vauxhall customer services to request a European main dealer list. It was verified whether I was the origional owner on their records and they sent me a magnicent book with not only all dealers in Europe but maps of the continent.
No problems with Motorpoint myself but it is almost like a supermarket, with no no time for kicking tyres and having a chat.
good luck...

Judging by what you've said and Philomeena's original post I don't think their customer service sounds anything like any of the supermarkets I visit.

I guess it's too late to say this now, but any time I've gone to look at a car I'm thinking of buying, I've brought a printout of the relevant section from HJ's "How to Buy & Sell Cars", link on the left. Has been extremely useful - I've looked like I know what I'm doing (as well as being a PITA for some vendors!) - and has saved me from buying at least one duffer, a Merc whose panel gaps and shutlines were wrong enough for me to know it had been repaired after an impact. Checking under the boot carpet confirmed this, but the vendor swore blind it had never been damaged.
Thanks HJ!

Possibly too late now but a female friend of mine had a similar experience to that noted above. They try to get you to pay for the car before you see it and then try to get you in the car and away asap. In her case she only got one key (transponder type expensive to replace) and there was a cigarette burn in the drivers seat. Once Motorpoint had her mullah they were not interested and she eventually let it go.
My (late) advice is don't part with the cash before you have inspected the car, if there's anything wrong get them to fix it BEFORE you hand over the cash and if they won't walk away.
Make take 2 of you to stand up to them, I understand they can get a bit forceful when you don't play it their way.
Sorry this is late hope your experience of them was good.

>>cigarette burn in the drivers seat.
Was this a second hand car or new ?

I once bought a Fiat from Fords of Winsford. The red key was missing and I made them sign an indemnity stating they would provide one. They did this without question and the key followed soon after. Apart from the poor p/x offer, they were very professional.

philomeena can you bring us up to date with this one. Did you get the chance to inspect the car before hand over and was it OK.
