Ummm....tricky one.
However, if one doesn't stand out over the other for you, then probably neither is right...
Then again, that might be bullpoo...

406, becuase it isnt a Vectra. Or perhaps Mondeo TDCi.

Like the new shape Vectra....
If you like it, then go for it. Don't be put off by people who tell you the indicators are ridiculous, or that because it's a Vauxhall, don't buy it. I've had numerous Vauxhall's for some 18yrs now, and in general they are no better or worse than any other mainstream car on the market.
Don't follow the sheep and think like Jeremy Clarkson, where Vauxhall is concerned.
btw, I've got a Vectra(C) myself, but then you all probably already know that ;o)

Forgivem me for butting in, but is it 406 vs Vectra or HDi vs Petrol that you need advice on? For the answer to that it would help if you could advise what kind of mileage/driving/towing etc do you do?
Cheers,

406 come on, it's obsolete ! Go for Vectra ;)

Nothing really wrong with the 406 or the Vectra, however Peugeot's 110 HDI is definitely a better engine than GM's 2.0 DTI.
Got to drive them both and make your decision.
With the 407 out, the 406 be better value.
