BR Stars - El Hacko
Like many others here, I read often and post little .. and thoroughly enjoy switching on. So (if it hasn't been done before) may I nominate the Star Performers? Hardly surprise choices, but deserved of a special thread, surely.
For Discussion: the ever so readable Growler for his delightfully entertaining Letters from Thailand; and on Tech Matters: the extraordinarily knowledgable Aprilia whose detailed explanations and analyses must have saved so many BRs time and money.
OK, perhaps better avoid Star Twerp category!

I nominate DVD for his legal insight and unstinting efforts on our behalves.

I dunno about this. Virtually everybody in here offers help, a listening ear, advice or suggestions virtually all the time.

Whilst I agree that some do put an enourmous effort into this, I'm not that comfortable with singling people out, even for good reasons.

If you all disagree with me, fair enough, I'll leave it alone. But right now I'd be more comfortable without this thread.
BR Stars - Nsar
I know what you mean but as someone who feels they get a lot more out of the BR than they put in, perhaps give it half an hour -everyone likes a pat on the back and I endorse the above - esp Aprilia who has helped me.
Can I put in a mention for HF who seems able to take the heat out of some our more testosterone fuelled moments?
BR Stars - Thommo
Er... I think you'll find Growler is in Philippines. Still very entertaining.

Agree Aprilia is awesome, but always wanted to know why he is named after some rather poor motorcycles (except for the 250 2 stroke which is excellent until it goes bang).

No Wheels drives me crazy but is the authentic voice of the left/green/urban lobby. Know thine enemy.
BR Stars - frostbite
Just for a change, I'm with Mark on this one.

I have occasionally wondered who might be best nominated in this way, should it come to a vote, but decided it would be toe curlingly embarrassing for many, and best left alone.
BR Stars - El Hacko
apologies to Growler - and quite agree with those Against this 'selective' thread, if Mods so decide.. every contribution to BR is at least an interesting read, and some much more. So everyone take a bow!

PS I was thrown out of the Diplomatic Corps

On the subject, sort of, what is the "RLBS" for, Mark?

NW are you stalking Patently? Is there something going on we should all know about? You two do seem to come as a pair these days! ;) Does Mrd Patently mind, or is NW actually Mrs Patently? Do you sit at separate PCs of an evening, posting to eachother?

Do I need to stop thinking so hard?

Oh Oh sir sir, I know this one.

RLBS. Royal Lemington b***** Spa. Being the place he moved back to when he left South America. Don't think he likes it much.

Only thing I know about Lemington Spa is my mate Seymour Bybus of the Shapes came from there. (reference to obscure post-punk bands on the Northampton 'scene' in the early '80's, see also Wood Hill Records and Bauhaus 1919)

BR star? it's me me me!! (as SWMBO keeps saying)

NW are you stalking Patently?

Why on earth would I want to stalk a man who has subjected his better half to the trauma of driving a Chelsea tractor, and who has put the engine in the wrong end of his own car? ;-)

ps - leave Patently alone, he's spoken for (Oooooooohhhhh) !

I rather hope Aprilia names himself after the fine old Lancia model of the late 1930s.

Lancias had lovely Italian names in the 50s as well - Appia, Aurelia, Flaminia, then much less memorably went Greek (Beta, Gamma though I don't remember an Alpha. Too like Alfa? Then, lugubriouls, Dedra, and inexplicably, Y10.

I agree - we're better off without stars as we're a sort of mutual co-operative. But thanks everyone for being (usually) entertaining and informative.
BR Stars - tr7v8
Y10 actually used the greek letter y which I think is epsilon. The 10 was for the engine capacity in Italy I think. They then actually renamed the next small car Epsilon.

I think this thread has run its course - even if I'm not sure actually what course that was.
