Picking one of these up tomorrow, a 1.3CD model, 96/P (new shape). Anybody got any experience of these, and what they're worth in a private sale. Car is excellent condition, 3dr in white, PAS, EW, ESR, CD player, 87k miles, T&T both 4 months.
Thanks

Probably make around £1300 - £1500 private. 87K miles is a lot for these little cars - not that they won't take it, but most do less than the "average" mileage.

They are "old school" Toyotas - roll a lot and understeer, not much room in the back, but reliable and cheap as anything to run. Brakes are progressive and strong and the engine is willing.

I learnt to drive in one of these about 7 years ago and from what I remember it was a good little car..

Even better when about 18 months ago my girlfriend booked a lesson with my old driving instrcutor and he had the same car, although nearly 300,000 miles later, I asked him if it was the same engine and that he confirmed, however he was on his tenth clutch!!! - not surprising tho...

If anything it should be reliable!

Ok, thanks for that, sounds a promising car!

One of the driving instruction trade mags ran a survey a few years back on cars used by instructors, and I remember a couple of Starlets were featured which racked up some astonishing milages with little or no problems. They had a reputation for being fairly bullet proof.

should fine one with the same mileage going for sub £1,000 at an auction.

quite high for the car.
