LOL can mean Lots of Love or Laugh Out Loud.
If you key an acronym into google and add "+ definition" without the quotes, you'll find out what the more obscure ones represent.
You can also obtain the dictionary definition of a word in the same way.

BLING that's not acronym, that's full word - it's ghetto term for personal property which attracts attention because it's size or market value, but only in hands of right person
Examples:
19'' chromed alloys for Chevy Escalade, that's "bling", tarted up Nova on same alloys, emm.. not so much.
Diamond ring on finger of J Lo, that's "bling", same ring worn by Katy Burke? Not so much...
Never seen IHAC WVM OBE in use, so can't help.

Digressing but SABENA used to stand for "Such a b***** experience never again", ALITALIA does stand for "Always late in take off and late in arrival". There is one for LUFTHANSA but the mods would block it, it involves hostesses...

The media are always making up words when they can't think of an appropriate one. For 'Bling' I would have preferred the perfectly legit AustroGerman word 'Schmuck'. It would sum up much better the spinny things on wheels which keep cropping up in BR threads. I haven't seen any spinny things yet, they haven't spread to my neck of the woods.

Word schmuck, despite gaining many new meanings in various slangs, actually describes part of skin removed during circumcision. Appendage or bit without much use. Unfortunately Jamaicans were blissfully unaware of existance of Jewish "Schmuck" when they came up with "bling". "Bling" was the word immitating sound a sparkling diamond would make in the sun, kind of like in the movies - "bling bling". It was then adopted by African Americans and further popularised in "hip" white thrash media along with linguistic pearls like "fo shizze my nizzle" and "sup yo" or "whazzaaa". :D

I hadn't thought of it that way. I had more in mind the bright things that motor manufacturers add to cars to make them more attractive, like go faster stripes, badges and decals.
