Total LHM Plus fluid - Tony Bee
My Xantia needs some to bring the little orange disc back onside.
Handbook insists on it. No doubt a French company protecting another French company.
What else can I use?
What Spec details are the ones to look for ?
Many TIA

Loads of companies make LHM+, and any will do for your Citroen.

Bendix are about the cheapest at around £2 a litre. Total, Morris, Mintex and Castrol also make it.

I'm pretty sure I've used Halford's own brand too in the past. As long as it's the 'green' fluid you're OK for the Xantia.

The same is true for oil. Citroen stipulate a Total oil for the Xantia, but I just used GTX in my 8 valve 1993 Xantia. I sold it at 105,000 miles and never had any problems with the engine. Mind you, I was very fussy about changing oil and filter every 5000 miles. That's probably more important than worrying about brands.

The dealer uses Esso fully synthetic in my C5, even although Total fully synth is recommended. Again, no apparent problems.
