- no
- yes but not above 80
- yes by more than 80
- don't really look at the dial, to be honest"
Also:

and
"For which of the following reasons would you own a caravan:
- I don't like the view from my lounge window and want to block it
- I can't afford a proper holiday
- I want a holiday where I am free to do as I wish
- I hate other motorists and want to annoy them as much as possible"

Here's one that I doubt the mods would allow, but anyway...
Have you ever engaged in a sex act while driving, or took part in one with the driver?
This suggestion does not imply any personal experience by the poster.

No problems here. It will be a yes/no response with no elaboration possible.

NW - lovely. Thank you.
DD - PLEASE! At least some of NoWheels' suggestions!

>>Have you ever engaged in a sex act while driving, or took part in one with the driver?

Just wondering how we can answer this without any personal experience? ;)

No if you haven't, yes if you have.
Annonimity gauranteed. Allegedly.

Since the law changed last December, have you EVER used a mobile phone illegally whilst driving?
...and to make the results of this week's poll even more interesting, how about a second follow-up poll:
"Did you use a phone in a way that would now be illegal, during the six months prior to the introduction of the new laws on the use of phones while driving?"
I'll try to think of an original one or two now!
|
Agreed. I bet there are very few people who had a handsfree set fitted as a result of the change in law.
|
Dave - does the question mean:
Did you use one in a manner that was prohibited by the new law
or
Did you use one at all, legally or illegally?
If the latter then I need to change my vote!
Agreed. I bet there are very few people who had a handsfree set fitted as a result of the change in law.
I didn't. I'd already reached the conclusion that it was too dangerous, and bought one of those little ones wot dangle off yur ear innit.
So it wasn't "as a result of" the change in law...
|
Patently,
The former. Did you use one in a manner that was prohibited by the new law?
I was going to put an extra selection in, that being "what new mobile phone law?" as it's obvious from some of the people who you see on the roads that they don't know of any such law.
Anyway, enough of that, before I have to moderate myself and move this in one of the mobile phone threads ;o)

Do you find roundabouts to be the biggest hazard when trying to pour milk on your cornflakes?

Are reliability surveys:
Accurate
to be taken with a pinch of salt
not worth the paper they're printed on
only good if they brown-nose German cars
reliant on good sample sizes
reliant on good sample sizes - oh, unless they brown-nose German cars, in which case they're fab, regardless.

Hmmm. To buy 2 BMWs in succession AND THEN a Porsche you have to be a bit thick skinned in that respect.....

Patently, for a moment I was abit taken aback by how fully you hand entered into the spirit of a backrrom friday afternoon ... but then I re-read and saw the word "skinned" ;-)
|
Yes, my posts are so much better when you read them in full.
|
Have you ever driven a car skinned, NW?
|
Have you ever driven a car skinned, NW?
yes, mapmaker, all the cars I've driven have been skinned with a thin layer of sheet metal. Very thin and rather rusty in some cases, but skinned nonetheless
;-)

Poor you. Never had a convertible. Life just isn't worth living unless you've got a multi thousand pound convertible...

This isn't going to be here when I return to work on Monday (and Mark/DD/ND gets home from work tonight...)...

Ah.... some sense from the two of you at last.
Actually the 911 is with me today in view of the weather. If you'll both excuse me than its time to go and frighten some innocents between here and home.

Just for diesel owners (who make up 50% of poll respondents at 12:40 today, , on the statistically significant population of 2....)
would you use biodiesel if it was easily avaiable -
no/yes/yes but only if cheaper ?
you have to get out of the car sometime
so visit www.mikes-walks.co.uk

Dave - any chance please of a link from the 'sticky' thread through to the poll?
And does 'other' include going by Red Ken's Green Bus - fuel cell powered? And what about cycling?
|
The first poll?
What fuel do you use?
A bit of a damp squib of a question ain't it?
|
The first poll? What fuel do you use? A bit of a damp squib of a question ain't it?
Petrol has always been the main fuel people used. However since the introduction of cleaner diesel, high performance diesel engines and the rising cost of petrol making diesel more attractive, I wanted to see if the Diesel / Petrol divide has narrowed at all.
|
It'd be a quite interesting one to re-visit every 6 months maybe, see how it changes.
|
|
>> A bit of a damp squib of a question ain't it?
ok fair point..
ps, added my vote.
|
I feel cheated. I had to vote petrol.
I drive a petrol car, but I love diesel cars, and will be swapping Polo for one as soon as somebody gives me a job!

I was just about to, but I see it's already been done.
And does 'other' include going by Red Ken's Green Bus - fuel cell powered? And what about cycling?
"Other" is any fuel that I didn't mention. eg, If your main form of travel is by lawnmower running on moonshine....

Should anyone in a position of power/authority (especially politicians) be allowed to set transport policies if they do not drive or hold a driving licence?
Simple answer options of Yes or No.
|
Should all speed cameras be removed for a trial period of 6 months to see what effect they realy have on motoring accident rates?
Answers Yes or No again.
What should the speed limit be on our motorways:
Leave at 70
Raise to 90
Raise to 100
Raise to over 100mph
|
|
|
|
How much would it take to push you from moaning about fuel prices, speed cameras, traffic calming measures and suchlike to taking direct action by sabotage or civil disobedience?
|
Have you ever left the scene of a road accident, however minor, caused by or invlving yourself, and if so, have you later reported the incident?
|
How much does your car cost you to insure per year?
£0 I dont bother with insurance
£1-300
£301-600
£601-900
£901-1200
£1201+

Please keep your suggestions coming.
I will still be using some of the above suggestions, but please try and keep your future suggestions to simple yes/no type answers. The Poll software will stretch to several answers to a question, but anymore than four tends to upset it.
TIA, DD.
|
Q: Should congestion charging be introduced nationwide?
1: Yes, the roads should be priced to keep the poor off them.
2: No, there are plenty of other ways of dealing with congestion without reserving the roads for the rich.
|
Q: When refuelling, do you:
1. Stop when a certain cash value is reached
2. Not stop until your tank is full.
|
|
|
How about:
"Who thinks that the mobile phone law has been a complete waste of time?"
I certainly do - it infuriates me to see the number of (particularly) van and lorry drivers weaving all over the road blatantly holding a moibile phone in one hand.
|
|
When you refill your fuel tank, do you generally-
Brim it?
Stop at the first click?
Only put a certain ammount in?
Stop at the nearest pound or 50p after the first click?
An Other?
