1992 1.6 JLX - Horn problem - Civic8
BIL has Suzuki.when you press the horn button with ign/off it works.ignition on horn wont work.Feeds to both horns are 12v+ ie both wires ign on or off.cant find a relay any one any ideas.cannot find a manual for it anywhere.thanks for any replies.

Hi I know it is a long time ago but I have exactly the same problem. One extra item is that when it is extremely cold and there is ice on the car, the horn does work with the ignition on. But then wont work after you have driven for about 10 minutes.
Did you ever find a solution?

rja1,yes I did find the fault,it was the earth strap on the flexible steering coupling,although to look at it was fine the cable had corroded and broken inside the connector
Once replaced all was ok again and the job is easy to do HTH

Hey, four and half years later and you can tell me the answer! Many thanks. Not sure where to find the strap, in the engine compartment I guess, I'll look at it tonight.

On the steering column under the bonnet by the bulkhead you will see the flexible joint, its made of rubber so earth circuit is made by small cable, its bolted to the joint ie one connecter to upper column, other end of cable to lower column making the circuit

I was told its a common fault on this motor which appears to be true.
