No-one is going to like this but if you want to permanently rid yourself of the problem you can always find the siren and unplug the wire. Of course then you are left with two problems -

a) Would the alarm still go off? By that I mean - the indicators would flash

b) If it got nicked you wouldn't be best pleased. If it's a quick fix till you can get round to sorting it properly then that's what I'd suggest.

Of course, someone will no doubt be along in a minute telling you to disarm and reset it by standing on one leg whilst winking at the boot and then turning the key in the passenger side 3 times until it "dongs" then tapping the left petrol cap or possibly the right depending on model - all this whilst whistling in a key no higher than C major and of course whilst drumming your fingers no more than 2 cm away from the clock.

Works for me

Cheers

This may be no help at all.check all door switchs they must be free.any signs of sticking or are broken that may be the prob.also that they work correctly with the interior light ie when door/boot/bonnet (if it has one) open it lights up.alarm also has voltage sensor so if you happen to have a short no matter how small alarm will pick it up.its just a thought and may be wrong.the ford alarm wasnt the best but did the job.

"ie when door/boot/bonnet (if it has one) open it lights up."

I'm pretty sure his car has a bonnet steve.o! :-P

Seriously though, my M reg Escort alarm often goes off when the boot contacts get dirty - could your problem be similar?

The door switches used are not the courtesy light switches but microswitches(usually blue)built into the door locks. To check the switches -open the bonnet, press the bonnet alarm switch until the alarm starts to sound(5 to 10 times)-then open the doors and boot-the alarm should sound as each is opened.
