I'm considering buying a chip from EastCoast Racing for the 2.5 turbo common rail diesel. Is there anyone with experience using this or other chip to improve its performance; any reason to worry about negative effects. At about £375 is it worth it?
If it genuinely boosts power by 20% then I'd be happy as this car's 0-60 is only about 14 sec.
Thanks

20% boost of power by changing the control system?
That'll be the magic version then.

This is the manufacturer's description for the tuning chip:
"The CR series diesel performance chip tuning Powerbox works in conjunction with vehicles fitted with common rail diesel injection systems. The power increase is achieved by digital modification of the pulse width (the opening time) of the solenoid injectors which is digitally stored on a microprocessor chip as information to provide maximum power and economy."
These chips are apparantly a well known method of increasing power in many available diesels.

20% sounds plausible to me, i'm pretty sure that most VW Diesels can go from 130bhp to 160bhp with a £400 chip. Thats just over 20% power increase. No reason that i know of why your car shouldn't have similar results

I have one of these boxes from East Coast Racing on my C5 HDI.
It makes the world of difference. One of the moderators has one on his Alfa.
Ring them and ask how long you can return it in if you don't like it.
