Got an s reg xsara, how long over a service interval is ok regarding oil filters etc. How many miles over would be ok 100 1000 5000miles???? xsaras need 12500 between service. may just go to national 4 a cheap oil change

Which engine does it have? Petrol? Diesel? Mileage? Miles per year? Short journeys? Long journeys? If you are asking if it's OK to go over 12,500 between oil changes I would say that's far to long - but that's just a personal opinion

Quality of oil has a lot to do with it. If you use a top quality fully synthetic then 12,500 should be OK. Even a good semi synth every 12,500 should be fine for cars that do good long runs.
For cars that do lots of work in town, however, (especially diesels) I'd either make sure it's fully synth and strictly no more than 12,500 or semi synth every 6000.
Certainly don't think about old fashioned 'ordinary' oil.

Go to National anyway, £15 for semi-synth is probably cheaper than you could do it yourself for!
