I have just taken in PX a lovely old 2 owner Saab 9000 CSE with Full History; it drives superb normally however it does have an unusual problem. IF you accelerate hard as soon as you hit 3000rpm the engine seems to kick back (almost like cutting out) then power up again. This only happens under hard acceleration and will keep happening until you ease off the throttle. It is possible to GENTLY accelerate almost to 5000rpm with no such symptoms. Has anyone any ideas before I resort to expensive Garage Diagnostics?

Sounds like a problem of excessive turbo boost causing EMS to cut off fuel injection to protect engine.Could be something like a sticking wastegate or a problem with the wastegate control system.

If you can't fix it I'll take it off your hands for £200 ;-)

Could just be a split pipe, have you checked all the hoses for cracks?
