Has anyone experienced stooling in the Focus TDCI.
This is the second one that i have owned the previous was pre TDCI and not once did i experience this one stooling. I have mentioned this problem at service only to be told that "a few adjustments have been made" and it should be ok.

I'm assuming you mean stalling rather than stooling?
Stooling is something completely different, and generally done in the privacy of your toilet.

I still stall my Focus TDCi occasionally when slowing down. Apparently the ECU cuts the engine if the revs get to low - it\'s because resonance can shatter the dual mass flywheel at low revs apparently - is this what you mean? You don\'t say what build date you have got - I know theres an ECU update for older cars that helps.

Firstly I apologise for the incorrect spelling of stalling.
Thanks Ellen for you response - I had not been made aware of this reason.
I also forgot to mention the build date for my vehicle. Although it is 18 months old and now on the third service (38k) I still mention the problem of stalling when I book the car in for a service. I believe they applied the ECU update during the last service, but it still stalls.

The one I had on test a year ago, did everything it could to stop stalling, even to the extent of appearing to speed up when slowing down at lights in a highish gear. I was told this was due to the ecu reprograme.

My son has a year old Focus Zetec 1.8 TDCI which exhibited similar measures - the dealer couldn't pinpoint much that was causing it.
Bit unnerving though....

This was common also on Ford petrol engines. My 95 Mondeo 1.8 did the same. If you dipped the clutch while rolling along the engine was doing 1500 rpm. It dropped to about 700 rpm when the car stopped moving. Ford dealers said it was "normal".
