Would there be any difference in quality (longevity, etc) between a Toyota original pump, and a non-OEM one ?

Possibly, but most likely no. Can you even buy a new OEM Toyota water-pump?. I just changed the water-pump on my BMW and the main dealer only had rebuilt ones to sell.

Yeah, funny that isn't it? Vauxhall sell service exchange pumps......nothing new!
Must be all to do with recyling etc etc
Still, a recon pump is no problem these days....often as good as a new one.

alot of aftermarket pumps are sourced from OEM manufacturers now...

Bought a waterpump for a Honda Legend V6 - I think I got it from Partco or BB (can't remember) - anyway, it was dead cheap and absolutely identical to the factory orignal I took off, right down to the Japanese manfrs name stamped on it.
