Does anyone know how the petrol 1.6FSI 6 speed is geared? I presume that it's a close ratio set rather than a tall overdrive as in the TDI variants. I've not seen mph/1000 revs quoted for this model.

If its the same as the Touran, 3000rpm in 6th equates to 70mph. Its pretty much geared to keep revs above 2000rpm (2000rpm is ~30mph in 4th, ~40mph in 5th)

What car test mentioned that sixth is a tall gear to improve economy and that it affected flexibility so that down changes may be required now and again.
