BBC Money Programme, Wednesday, 26 May, at 1930 BBC2

"In 2000 Richard Burden helped Phoenix buy Rover, but he now tells the Money Programme that the directors' decisions, to set up the £13m pension fund for themselves and take large salaries, fly in the face of falling car sales and the failure to evolve a future strategy for the company."

"This week the Money Programme has put one of those directors, Peter Beale, on the spot and asked him to answer the critics and explain the company's performance. He says he fails to understand the criticism because the directors took huge personal risks when they bought Rover and says "if we had not restructured the business, it would have lasted six months"

Motors TV have two programs this week about the history of MG & Rover. Not the best programs ever made but worth watching (they will be repeated quite a few times in the next week I should think).

Did anyone catch the program last night about a day in the life of the Nissan Boss, they had to reward people to take time off work.

didn't tell us anything we didn't already know really - I expected more for the Money Programme


memo for Alan Beale - the reason your City Rover on display at a motorway services was attracting so much attention was the rarity value !. In the five or six months they've been on sale, I've seen one on the road and 4 or 5 at the local dealers. However, when i walked past the dealers a few weeks ago, ALL the new city rovers had dissapeared to be replaced by low mileage merc A series......
