Engine has the code RKB :-
Does anyone know if the crankshaft/pulley is the key/keyway type ? I'm shortly to change the timing belt .
Part no. on pulley appears to be 928 M 6B320 DDH 05 571
If I can determine beforehand if it is keyed then I do the job , if not it's off to Fords !
Another little querie for any ABS whizz-kids . I changed the brake fluid today , in the normal way - pipe in jar , pump pedal, top-up fluid etc etc
Pedal fine , however on starting engine abs light and brake warning light stayed on longer than before. They go out together , when car driven off , and stay off , but on re-start same thing occurs .
I used DOT4 fluid , cylinder specifies DOT4 super - is there any real difference , is there a problem , or is it just because the system has been interupted ?

While this does not solve your problem, be aware that for 96 P reg Fiestas there was a compatibility problem and Super DOT4 should not be used. The same thing MAY apply to Mondeos?
Several people have doubted this in the past, but I have the printed Ford document which was stuck in my Book as a result of the recall.
Do a search and find several references.

I don't know if your P-reg Mondeo is the original shape or the later one, as that the year they changed. On the original (93-96) Mondeo the pulley was keyed. I don't know if the later one is the same, but I would think it probably is.
Another thing to bear in mind, according to the Haynes manual there is a tensioner spring which needs to be fitted the first time the belt is changed. Apparently its not there when the engines leave the factory. Don't ask why. I haven't got a clue.

Might help if you follow this link m8

Check out the forum for their advice, from personal experience, just changing the alternator drive belt was a real mission!
I believe (though stand to be corrected) that you should also change pulleys etc at the same time as a belt change and the service parts (belt included) come as a kit.
