Could any kind person help me? I\'ve got a 98 Megane coupe and i\'ve two problems. Firstly my speedo has a mind of its own. When i\'m travelling at a constant speed my speedo jumps up and down? Does anybody know what causing this? Sencondly, when i unlock my doors from the plip controller, my drivers door wont open instantly. Instead i\'ve got tot hold the handle open for a while then the door opens. The passenger door is fine. Any help would be appreciated.

The speedo is driven electronically from the ECU Suspect the obvious first and check the various multiplugs from the dash insert. Will probably involve removing the airbag and steering wheel be careful when unplugging the airbag, the plug is fragile. Remember to switch the ignition off and wait 10-15 mins before commencing. Unlikely to be the vehicle speed sensor as this would put the EML light on the dash 'on'. The mechanism is probably binding inside the door. Attend to it soon before it burns the solenoid out.

Thanks for the info. when i was driving today, my speedo was exceptionally errartic. A light came on on the dash board. i think it was the eml light. it was the one with a screen and a wave through it. Do you think it could be the sensor then?

Read the luddite thread from a week or two back! It's not much comfort for you though.

erratic speedo on meganes is a fairly common fault,it is not usualy the sensor on the gearbox but the wiring to it that is fractured or broken within the engine harness.Try adding an extra wire from the black wire of 3-pin connector to sensor &take other end to a body earth point.
