Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the cars on offer at CarGiant?
Was there at the weekend looking at diesels. Seemed like a fuss-free way of looking at a wide cross-section. My first visit but was not overly impressed to tell the truth. Wondering if it is worth a return trip.
Looked at a dozen cars or so. Some had no history at all (but verified mileage??), others were abused by previous owners and not well prepped (ciggy burns, dirty interiors, one with sugary drink residue all over the central console!). Found one very good Ford that ticked all the boxes, but discovered it had sand/grit on the engine under the oil filler cap.
Im not a petrol head (or diesel head for that matter), and thanks to some research on this site among others, I feel I may have had a narrow escape.
I realise they sell at rock-bottom prices and I cannot knock that. Did I get them on a bad day? Is it just a case of you gets what you pays for?
Maybe I am being over-choosy, but I was expecting good clean cars at private prices. Any thoughts?
Cheers

No personal experience, but the man himself seems to think highly of them which would be enough for me to give them a second chance.
I am the first to admit that a dirty car is inexcusable and very off-putting, particularly when being offered for sale, but for 5 pounds and 2 hours of your time (or 50 pounds worth of someone else's time) you could have those cars looking as clean as what you could find on a main dealer's forecourt. Of course, the dealer's cars wouldn't be just 50 pounds more expensive.

Mostly very good but there are some woofers. CarGiant is probably best thought of as an auction where you get to choose when to show up, you get the options of finance/warranty, and you get the protection of the Sale of Goods Act. It doesn't cosset you but you do get some nice cars at reasonable prices (mostly).

When I was looking for a Mondeo, their lowest price cars were just at the top of my budget. A check on their web site showed more than 30 cars at or below the £4K price point. I rang them to confirm that had that number on hand at that price for me to look at. They took my contact details - name and phone, asked if I was after finance (no thanks, cash) and then said they had 3 cars at that price with more coming in but couldn't say how many, spec etc. I didn't fancy a speculative trip round the North Circular but that didn't stop them phoning me back 3 times to try and make an appointment with the sales guy who took my initial enquiry. Not overly pushy but also not my style. Having read your post Piglet, I'm glad I didn't bother.

Why not save their profit element? Just go to the auction yourself??
