On reply from Holley they don`t do a carb for the 2.8 cologne engine.not even reman.Anyone fitted a good webber to this unit.and can tell me which carb it needs ie model/no or kit/no?

Various carbs have been used on the 2.8. Holley 390 bit big on a standard engine but cheap on E Bay as in £60-£70.
I'd go for a Weber probably 38DGAS or 40DFI you need to have a word with someone like Burton Performance in Ilford or Southern Carburretors.

My brother has had a lot of probs with carbs due to replacing with secondhand units.ie from scrap yards.although what he has doesnt cause any problems running just the car He is now towing a caravan and needs a bit more power. He likes to go away a lot.so am looking into what you said.so far I have had better results from webber on this than Holley.thanks

38 DGAS is correct. These engines breathe very badly so a bigger carb is the last port of call after head and cam work. Don't use the 40 dfi 5 as it has no power valve, it was designed for multiple carb instalations, Ferarri etc. It will cost you a 25% increase in fuel. The reason the used ones cause so much trouble is wear in the butterfly spindles. ANY movement here will cause the dreaded cough from tickover to low speed. Webber used to be in Sunbury Upon Thames, Middlesex, England.
Nice cars though.
