Heaven forfend that I risk ostracism by my friends if they even imagined for one minute I read the Grauniad, but the attached is interesting:

....but I always thought a Robin Reliant was made of plastic?

Lucky that some of these people are dumb, as well as criminal.
Since the government didn't even know of the existance of those cars, if they'd never been taxed, they'd probably never have known, and never have sent out a fine.

next thing you'll be eating muesli, and before you know it you'll be hugging trees along with the best of them! :)

I think you meant Reliant Robin!
|
|
Oops - didn't mean that to be quite so terse/stroppy! I'm fascinated by the way that one car has metamorphed around in our language.
|
LOL my phrasing was deliberate.

Yes, anyone who knows what they are talking about will think twice before describing them as "rusting reliants".
Good old Grauniad, as reliable as ever.
|
"One million cars they didn't know about?"
I bet there are enough people they don't know about to fill those cars, too.
|
|
Maybe they got under them and saw the rusting suspension/under car components, or were those made of plastic too?.
|
Call me a cynic - probably originated from a DVLA press release,
usual case of froth v. content....

Yes, fair enough there are metal parts in a Reliant, but I didn't say they couldn't rust, I just said that a knowledgeable person would think twice before saying that. It is a bit of a red rag.

They know about them, but they just dont care! "Too many - nah, just massage the figures mate"
Roger.

At least the Grauniad knows it's a Reliant Robin - not so the Torygraph:

So it's like E-type Jag then, only not so rust prone?
