*You* probably can't fill it, but a professional bodyshop, you know, the type that fit bonnet pins in the correct place could weld in the holes and finish it off properly. Before you splash out on bodywork check the price of a replacement bonnet from a breakers.

I did a similar thing a few years ago when fitting rear foglamps to a new Mitsubishi. Do what I did, put a nice chrome plated coach bolt in it. Fit another one on the other side of the bonnet for symmetrical effect.

Does it have metallic paint?

You can bridge the back with a 10p piece then fill from on top with body filler

You could well fill it and get a good result.as for welding the hole may cause problems.but depends on paint in some cases the paintwork will after respray show up where the job was done and stand out like a sore thumb.filling would be better but I only say that as my brother is a bodybuilder sprayer. Has been for 20 years.he mentioned depends on paint

Weld repairing a large panel as such will cause massive heat distortion.

Filling it will not be durable enough - once you have slammed the bonnet a few times it will crack & fall out...

I think a black grommet (painted) is the best I can suggest.

The metal may or may not take a weld repair. I've done it on vintage steel, but of course it is way thicker.

Solder! Similar gauge metal behind hole, and a fill of solder above. Use lead/tin solder (you can still get it from real plumbers merchants).

But of course you will trash the paint for about (I guess) a 3 inch diameter circle, even if you are very careful.

It's the deviant DIY approach to leading.

fill it .... fibreglass behind hole and fill with p38 it wont fall out and if it's not metallic paint easy to spray in and cut back in a couple of weeks to match . if its metallic still fill it and let a body shop spray it . or let a body shop do the whole job, they will only fill it as well.

Ding the hole down slightly with a smalll ball pein hammer. If you don't do this the repair will always show through the filler. Try to clean behind the hole back to bright metal and stick a thin piece of mild steel sheet behind it with seam sealer like tiger seal.
