A friend has got a N Reg Rover 600 that suffers from a knocking noise when turning tight or continous right turns (eg roundabout). He says the noise is coming from the right hand front wheel area and is a continual knocking (variable with speed)
I have had a quick look underneath, but could not find any visible problem. Has anyone got any suggestions at to where to look?
Many thanks.

CV Joint. Probably nothing visibly wrong, unless the boot is split. Joint might be available separately, otherwise it will need a new driveshaft. Any mechanic will be able to confirm diagnosis - a failed CV joint makes a very distinctive sound!

Is it illogical? It must be Citroen....

CV Joint is originally what I thought, but boot was not split. I am suggesting that he regreases inside the boot and see what happens.
Thanks

Grab the driveshaft and see if there's any play.

If it's worn, packing it with grease won't make any difference.

Quite often a worn CV joint will not exhibit any external signs of wear in terms of excess freeplay etc etc
It would be best to find someone in the know and ask them for their opinion before you start paying £££'s
