Just occasionally I think I\'m getting more like Victor Meldrew - this certainly prompted that reaction. What do you think of this?

The head of magistrates in the area should really consider whether the lady magistrate in question is really a fit and proper person for the job. The 'law' is coming into such disrepute that it can't afford any more such luicrous decisions. She acted like a nursery class teacher disciplining a favourite 'naughty boy'.
My son was caught by a camera doing 37 mph in a town 100 miles from home whilst he was carefully watching for direction signs. £60 fine and three points. He paid without demur.

The MOT on my car is due soon, the insurance is not far off so I think I'll not bother with either and save myself about £500. When (if) anyone questions me I'll quote this case as a precedent.
You have a problem with me? Why? Everyone sensible is doing the same. Don't you know laws are optional these days...

I'm not quite sure what planet some of these magistartes are on but it must be a very long way from here! I feel sorry for the police in cases like this. They spend precious hours processing scumbags like this, eventually get him to court and what happens!
I think it's time senior police officers spelled out to the courts just how much precious time, effort and money the police have to spend to bring these people to book. Perhaps then the magistrates mught act more responsibly. It's no wonder the police don't bother with certain offences when stuff like this happens.
