I drive a 3.2 litre at work on a regular basis. (It,s got a blue light on the top.) As a whole the car feels very well built and handles well. However, it is the first car I've driven where you can actually see the petrol gauge dropping. (Around 140 miles on a full tank.) I could never live with those ridiculous indicators and the boot release system is the most infuruating system I've ever come across.

According to today's Telegraph HJ is on holiday so you may not get a quick reply.

Driven 2.0; 2.2 and 2.2 auto.
Nice car, except for those awful indicators. I also note that the 'sensitivity' of the indicator stalk seems to vary from car to car. I had one on which it was almost impossible to cancel the indicators - incredibly annoying.

Yes, I had one as a courtesy car, and had trouble cancelling the indicators, If I needed a few flashes to warn following vehicles of a cyclist or something, then decided to stay in the right hand lane the indicators could only be switched to left, back to right and so on and not canceled unless you swerved about.....good idea, badly executed. I also found the text on the computer/radio etc.. display too small to read at a glance.

MLC,
wasn't you in the unmarked one about to nick that Impreza on the Kidde ring road the other week was it?
Bet he got a surprise when the strobes went on!

The tank must hold at least 15 gallons, so that makes it less than 10mpg - something not right there, surely, even for a 3.2 litre engine?

61 litres (13.4 gallons) actually.

Midlifecrisis's clue to the poor fuel consuption is the blue light. For example, extra weight for all the kit they have to carry. Camera, VCR and monitor, as well all other plod associated stuff in the boot. Not forgetting the hot pursuits down to the local Pizza palour as well ;o)
|
'Hot pusuits to the pizza parlour', perish the thought! Can't afford pizzas on my wages, a 79p cheeseburger is my limit. Regarding the fuel consumption, obviously being thrashed 12 hours a shift doesn't help, but the consumption really is appalling. And no, it wasn't me on the ring road. All our new vectras are marked. Doesn't stop many being oblivious to them thougth.
The 3.2 engine itself is very responsive and I console myself with the thought I'm not paying for the fuel. The one I was driving last night is a few weeks old and has 4000 miles on it now. It's loosened up nicely.
Ps. Thanks to the drink driver who attempted to kick out the rear window. Took me twenty minutes to clean up the mud all over the interior. Bah!

Must be a different section then, or maybe one on manufacturer's demo loan.
Definitely shifts a bit given right wellington!
