I notice that we may see a drop in the ever inceasing nubers of American Style double cab pick up trucks which need two normal size parking bays.Under the present rules company car drivers could opt to have one of these, often luxuriously appointed, instead of a car.The notional tax on them was £500 resulting in a tax bill of £200,it will now be £3000 costing the driver £1200,I must say this is the only increase in motoring costs I have ever ageed with.

i agree totaly, but for a small percentage of tradesmen who work hard just to break even ,running a second car isnt an option .
Hitting the wrong people id say!!!

Don't think its hitting the wrong people, surely no one in their right minds would run one of these as a company car if it wasnt for the tax breaks? Well done Gordon, I say, definitely an American import we can do without (like most of them actually)!

This is just one of a number of tax dodges he's plugged. With a £35bn defecit I can't blame him, after all, we'd all be complaining if interest rates had to go up to pay for it in a few years time. The guy's got a job to do after all.

I had thought about doing something similar for my business, but I can't see myself perting with huge sums of money for something I would just abuse.

I'll be running the van as a company vehicle and using the Discovery as a personal vehicle and to visit clients perhaps and just claim back the mileage from the company when on company business.
