Funnily enough this was one of mags purchased over the past 20yrs plus that I've saved in the loft. I just liked the road test. As soon as I saw the thread header I imagined the front cover and wondered if it was going to be involved. It's not from 1998 like the guy claims though is it. More like 1978?
I thought £5.50 OK* but when you add the £2 postage it's a bit steep.
*I've had to pay thereabouts for similar publications with a specialist article that I've wanted.
I'm not touting mine for sale but is there a specific bit of info you need?

Just thought it would make interesting reading, seeing as i've been offered a well maintained one, and i heard rave reviews on their handling (but not image!) in the past. Any chance you could scan it it and email it in exchange for the price of a pint?

As a car-obsessed ten year old (the only thing that's changed is that I'm not ten!) I had this magazine and yes, it is indeed 1988. August if I recall correctly.

Ok Ive got a horrible admission to make, I owned a 130 Rapide coupe for a short while. Im genuinely surprised there are any left because once the bushes in the front suspension wear they are usually scrapped because the part are unobtainable and have been for a considerable time. Skoda dealers back in the 80's used to often be family run affairs and were very helpful in keeping these things going. Since VW took over the selling and display of any rear engined skoda has been banned, and they wont welcome you in the service bay either because the technicians who knew the cars are long gone. If you look at Skodas website they even deny that they made the things reffering to stagnation under communist control etc.... ie their pictorial display jumps from the last Fabia and octavia of 1959 to 1989 when the favorrit emerged. In other words history has been rewritten. More a case of the deconstruction of fallen stars (appologies to any B5 fans!). They handle quite well unlike the 110R and even batter with a sack of spuds up front, but there is no spares and supply back up anymore. VW have erased any trace of these cars.

Actually it's semi-mid mounted: the front four cylinders are ahead of the rear axle line and the rear four cylinders are behind it. A good balance of mid engined handling and rear engined passenger space. The 613s didn't have swing axles either, it was semi-trailing arms. Used to be known as "the four door Porsche"

Ahhh right. I may well have been referring to the old 603 series. Actually Gareth Im madly jealous. Ive wanted one of these (613) since 1983 I actually wrote to the factory at Pribor (or Koprivnice) in Slovakia and they sent me their current brochure. This was for the series 2 T613, I wrote to them again in 1990 and they sent me their new "Euro-spec" T613/4 brochure. It was different in that it had a moulded plastic set of bumpers, but the interior looked the same. I was lucky enough to go to Vienna in 1990 and there were loads of "euro 613's" employed as taxis, but the nearest i got to a ride in one was having my photo taken by a really old series 1 model from the 70's. Apparently in 1991 the factory built hundreds for export I think to Vietnam but the order fell apart and they sold off hundreds of them at scrap price. If only I had known..........

I was interested by the final price on ebay, £8.50 inc postage. Think I'll have to get a few of my things sold through that route. The prices are higher than you might get most places for small stuff like this.

You'd be surprised - even old car brochures for interesting cars sell well. Time to start hoarding instead of chucking I think.
