My parents are trading in their Primera 1.8S X Reg, average mileage for an Almera 1.5S, 03 Reg, 7,000m. The dealer has offered £4,500 for the Primera in part-ex for £7,995 for the Almera.
Good deal or bad deal? I thought the part-ex was OK, but the Almera is overpriced by £1,000.

Boycott shoddy build and reliability.

I would have thought you could get a brand new Almera for that money, not an old Rental.

Over at new-car-discount.com has 04 plate, delivery miles Almera 1.5 S 3dr's at £7188, a few months ago they sold them for below £7000.
Of course you have to factor in the trade in car, so I would do some more research visit/phone a few more dealers.

The p/x is £500-£1000 more than they can reasonably expect; but the new car is £1500-£2000 more than they need to pay, so you do the math.

David,
Sorry to be a pedant, but it's "MATHS" in England if you don't mind...

While £4500 is decent, by the book p/x price for X reg Primera 1.8 S up to 35,000 miles, the dealership prices you quote are simply high. Dealers around here currently sell new, but pre registered 1.5S for £6995 (www.whitehousenissan.co.uk/WebPage8650.html). Local Glyn Hopkin outlets are trying to shift overload of preregistered "03" and "53" plate Almeras at very discounted prices too. Get the dealers to match other dealership prices.

Bear in mind that the Almera is due to be replaced next year, so residuals are going to take a hammering.
