My car got a chip on the door and a scratch on the bumper. I've got a quote for £45+vat for each to respray. Is this a good quote?

Unless the mobiles such as "chipsaway" or "dentdevils" can do a bit better I'd say it was pretty good.

Just leave it ... give it a few weeks and there will be another scratch and dent come along!

Toddle off down to your local car accessory shop and buy yourself a touch up pen. Using a pin head or cocktail stick to apply the paint, touch in the chip on the door; then depending how long the scratch is on the bumper either use the same method as the door, or use the brush that came with the touch up stick.

You didn't say whether the paint was a solid colour or a metallic. Metallics are much harder to match up with a touch up stick because the final effect will vary according to the applied thickness, drying conditions, etc.
So if it's a metallic finish and if you are treating chips and scratches rather that larger areas, this usually isn't noticeable, so just apply one or more thin coats, usually followed by an accompanying clear coat.
With solid colours there should be no such complication about colour-matching, it's just a question of getting a smooth coat applied.

This sounds to be very good value. The mobile people I have used charge about £75 per panel.
