Anybody know how to remove diesel stains off alloy wheels without using anything abrasive?
|
Try Jif, or Cif as they now call it.

Petrol will remove the stains but unsure on whether it will damage alloy. Also 'GUNK' @£4.99 a can will remove any grease/oil. Is designed as engine degreaser and some heads are alloy so I assume it is safe to use!

Jif/Cif is abrasive. Use a little petrol or white spirit to remove the stain then polish the alloy using Auto Glym super resin This protects the alloy well but ideally you need to cover the disk/caliper when you polish off or the fine dust lubricates your brakes. I do mine with the alloys off the car. Regards Peter

I would use T-cut or similar but if the staining isn't too bad and you really don't want to use anything abrasive, ordinary car polish should work ok.

OK, thanx folks, I'll give your ideas a try...
But what's petrol...?
|
Jif/Cif is NOT abrasive, it may remove polish so re polishing is advisable though will not damage the laquer or, more importantly, the tyres. Gunk/petrol etc not recomended to get near tyres.

Jif/Cif (well Wilkinsons cream cleanser with lemon, actually) doin the job a treat...
Thanx guys - Backroomers sort it again!
