Fuel tank capacity 80 litres...
They kidding or what?

is this the biggest production car engine ever ?
|
I wonder if the 9l/V16 is made by joining 2 current BMW 4.5 V8s?
Can you do that?
Chad.
|
I think that's what it is, yes....

Cadillac (concept) Sixteen has a 13.6-litre (!) V16 >

Six posts on this thread and nobody has yet suggested it would be better if it were powered by a diesel - thank goodness!!

The odd thing is that to me it suggests Bentley rather than Rolls - except for the front which suggests a White truck.
|
Meaning of course White by make, rather than white by color - American spelling appropriate!

Let me see, probably £200,000 for a kick-ass car with a lot of horses. If I won the lottery, perhaps.
Or say £30,000 for a V8 (albeit more rough and ready) in a car costing 1/6th as much. Give me a Rover V8. I'd rather drive a poor man Rolls Royce than not drive at all.

Back in the 1970's, I believe, someone shoe-horned a Rolls-Royce Merlin aero engine into a car (can't remember which)..... of course, ONLY a V12, but then it has got 27 Litres capacity ! ..... and rather a lot of torque ..... must have made even the V10 Diesel Touareg seem a bit limp .......
:-))

I think It was a Mr Dodds (of auto transmission repair fame) who fitted a Spifire engine into a home built car with RR radiator. IIRC RR sued him to remove the badge :-)

I think the 20s were the days of really enormous car engines, with the availability of ex-Zeppelin engines.
|
talking of silly engines, I remember being in awe of a Norton Commando with a Hillman Imp engine about 25 years ago at a bike show.
