Our Punto 1.2 8v (1500m)occasionally makes tapping noise on start up like hydraulic tappets pressurising.Usually from cold after standing a few hours or more.
Since 8v has solid tappets could it be the oil filter NR valve malfunctioning? Anyone else experienced this, or have any other ideas? I spotted similar on another forum.

Could well be I suppose, it goes away after a minute or so seems as the oil pressure builds up. Must be generously toleranced Fiat engineering though, engine's only run 1500 miles from new!
