On BBC's Watchdog now ......

At the end of the day, this is a car that costs thousands and shouldn't leak.
However there is part of me that says that to get a car where you basically dismantle the roof in the manner that it does then you can't be too surprised that it develops leaks!
|
To the cynically-minded, a daft idea from the drawing board ...
|
Isn't "pluie" the French word for rain?
|
Yes it is Hull4000. Pluriel of course means plural in French, although I accept that's not funny.
I think it's a shame this car hasn't taken off because it's a brave idea. And I've heard the vaseline advice many times with regard to water leaks in convertibles.

Citroen should have looked at the seals on the smart roof bars which are also removeable (and you can store them in the car, unlike the Plurial!). I've never known the seals leak, despite the bars being removed regularly. I wouldn't have had the patience to take the car back six times, after the second visit for the same fault the car would have been left on the forecourt. How can Citroen deny the problem wasn't there when the car was sold when its obviously a design fault?

Don't Smart glass roofs explode rather than leak? This was also on Watchdog!
|
Not the cabrio ones!! This was a typical Watchdog story (as is the Plurial one) the number of roofs which have 'exploded' based on the number of vehicles produced is less than 0.03%. Most problems have been caused due to impact to the roof by flying stones, but as the roof isn't laminated (apparently it can''t be due to the weight implications) it shatters rather than cracks.

You know I'm really rather pleased about this leaking roof business. You see, I like the Pluriel and fancy a nice second hand one in a few years when I no longer need a great big Terrano. All this adverse publicity is going to send second hand values plummeting and I should get a really good bargain. Only thing is I'll have to find a non-leaker because I don't fancy driving around in a car that smells of a swamp.
