Peugeot 3008 - Drivechain Recall on a Remapped Peugeot? - Radam87

MXL - Peugeot recalled for software update and higher viscosity oil. They plan to listen to the camshaft drive chain which is apparently at risk of premature wear and test engine pressure.

I know the car was previous remapped to bypass the an issue that could not be fixed with the emissions system. Is it likely this will cause problems taking it back to Peugeot for the work? i.e. will they identify the modification and flag it?

Depends who done the re map . If it was an official Peugeot fix , then shouldn’t be a problem.

I thought Peugeot used the dreaded wet belt and not a chain.

No mention of engine type, so could be a diesel.

Depends what the remap actually did and if it's configured some parts as absent (DPF, EOLYS, ADBLUE tank, EGR, cat, etc.) and if those parts have been removed from the car.

If it was a straightforward BHP gain then it will just revert back to stock

Good points, if its still under warranty that may be toast if found.

Not sure how they could react if its potentially illegal, ie if the DPF has been taken out or other emission alterations, would they just refuse to work on it once discovered or would they report the issue to the relevant authority?

Yes, they have a recall out for the 1.5 Blue HDI.

I'd expect them to change the chain (if necessary) regardless of the remap, although I'm intrigued to know what problem it has bypassed.
